Shakespeare Resolutions?

Ok, anybody got any Shakespeare related resolutions? Plays you should have read but haven’t? Plays/movies you want to see? Merchandise you want to buy?

I’d like to (note my wording – chicken!) get an application up and running on the web that allows people to tag and comment on various aspects of the plays, ideally in a way that hasn’t been done yet :). I like the idea that somebody (who I think prefers to live anonymously) just passed along about using a voice recorder to brain dump thoughts on various scenes and then put them together into a podcast.

I also want to try my hand at some Shakespeare merchandise, but I need more help with that (like, graphic design). Once I convince myself that it can make more money then it costs I might make it happen.

  1. I’m not so good with the sonnets, so I was thinking if I could study a sonnet every 2-3 days, I could go through them all within the year.

Read them, become a bit more familiar with the meanings, etc.
Unfortunately, I haven’t quite found the right book/site as companion study guide, since I’m not always the best at reading for nuance.

I’ve also set a lifelong goal of seeing all the plays. I’m really ticked at myself that I couldn’t be arsed to get to Publick Theatre’s “Troilus and Cressida” in 2004, since who knows when I’ll get another chance on that one. [I also want to see all of Marlowe’s plays, which is hampered by how seldom they’re performed and most productions are too far for travel.]

Alas regrets that I didn’t get more into Shakespeare earlier, but I suppose better late than never.

  2. I’m not sure where you are located, but St.Louis Shakespeare will be performing Troilus & Cressida in late summer 2006. I’ve never seen it either and I’m looking forward to it.
